Long, long ago in the cold land of Moorhead, MN, I gave an Honors Student Lecture. I was already an experienced public speaker – given my background in high school and college forensics – but this was, in many ways, my first academic talk. It was based on a paper I wrote for an honors course on the Renaissance (taught by the late Gordan Lell). The school newspaper did a little write up on it, which was typical. My partner recently published this photo of the newspaper clipping and it made me laugh. I share it so you can laugh too. And perhaps get a sense of my academic origins. 🙂
